This describes exactly what this website collects, why, and how long it is kept. It is short because the site collects very little — there is no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind.
Who is responsible

When you send us a message
The contact form asks for your name, your company (optional), one contact detail — an email address or a phone number, whichever you prefer — and a description of your situation. All four are stored in our own database, not only sent as an email. That is deliberate: an email gets buried, and a message that was captured but never answered is worse than one that was never sent. Alongside your message we store the language of the page you used, so we reply in it, and a status and internal notes as we deal with it. A copy is also emailed to us, so that a message is noticed without anyone having to log in and look. That email is delivered by Resend, a mail provider acting on our instructions, and it carries your name, your contact detail and what you wrote. The database record is the one we work from; the email only raises the alarm. We use this to reply to you and to keep track of the conversation. We do not sell it, share it for marketing, or add you to a mailing list — there is no mailing list. It is kept for two years from your last contact with us, then deleted. If you want it gone sooner, ask, and it will be. The form also contains one hidden field that people never see. If it is filled in, the submission came from an automated script and is discarded without being stored. Nothing about you is recorded in that case. So that the form cannot be used to send mail in bulk, we also count how many messages arrive from a network address over a ten-minute period. That count and the address exist in the server's memory only and are erased when the period ends.
When you use the network tools
The tools take whatever you type — a domain name, an IP address, a hostname — and look it up. What happens to that query depends on the tool. The subnet calculator runs entirely inside your browser. Nothing you type into it is ever sent to us or to anyone else. The DNS, SSL and IP tools run on our server, because they have to: they query public DNS resolvers, or open a connection to the host you named to read its certificate. Your query is used to produce the answer and is not written to any log or database that we keep. DNS results are held in the server's memory for five minutes so that a repeated check does not re-query eight resolvers, and are then discarded. To keep the tools free and available, we count how many requests come from an address over each minute. That count, and the address it belongs to, exist in memory only and are erased within sixty seconds. Nothing about your use of the tools is retained beyond that.
Server and network logs
Like every web server, ours records requests as they arrive: the address the request came from, the page asked for, the time, and the browser's own description of itself. These are used to keep the site running and to investigate faults and abuse, and are kept for thirty days. The site is served through Cloudflare, which sits between you and our server and therefore sees every request. Cloudflare acts as our processor and handles that data under its own terms. The servers behind it are in Europe.
There is no analytics on this site
No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no heatmaps, no session recording, no social media trackers, and no embedded third-party scripts of any kind. This is worth stating plainly because most sites that say "we value your privacy" are simultaneously loading a dozen trackers. If we ever add analytics, it will be a self-hosted tool that sets no cookies and stores no personal data, and this page will say so before it is switched on.
Who else can see any of this
Nobody buys this information from us, because we do not sell it. The only third parties involved in running the site are the ones that have to be: Cloudflare, which serves the site; our hosting provider, whose servers hold the database; and Resend, which delivers the notification email when you use the contact form, and therefore handles what you wrote in it. All three process data on our instructions and none of them do anything else with it. When you use the DNS or SSL tools, the query you typed necessarily reaches the public resolvers or the host being checked — that is the tool working, not a disclosure by us. We would also hand over information if we were legally required to, and we would tell you unless we were forbidden from doing so.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. You can withdraw from any conversation at any point and have the record of it removed. Write to info@dawoudtech.com. We will answer within the same working week, and we will not ask you to justify the request.
Changes to this page
This page is revised whenever the site starts doing something new — sending mail through a provider, adding a spam check, adding analytics. The date at the top is the date of the last change. A policy that has fallen behind the site it describes is the only kind that causes a problem, so this one is updated in the same change as the thing it describes.
